Acupuncture Treatments

Acupuncture can treat many conditions. Below is list containing some of the conditions treatable by acupuncture. The conditions in bold have been found to have moderate and/or strong evidence supporting the effectiveness of acupuncture:

Musculo-skeletal – lower back pain, shoulder pain, lateral elbow pain, neck pain,  joint sprains, muscle strain, sciatica, knee osteoarthritis, arthritis, sporting injuries, sports performance or enhancement, post-operative pain, plantar heel pain, restless leg syndrome, emergency pain relief, carpal tunnel, lumbar stenosis, rheumatoid arthritis, spinal cord injury, whiplash

Respiratory conditions – allergic rhinitis, sinus problems, hay fever, common cold or flu, (asthma-adults/children, bronchitis

Gastrointestinal disorders – constipation, diarrhoea, irritable bowel syndrome, post-operative and chemotherapy induced nausea/vomiting, Inflammatory bowel disease haemorrhoids, heartburn and reflux, dyspepsia, post-operative disorders

Cardiovascular – angina pectoris, palpitations, high blood pressure, chronic pulmonary disease

Women’s Health – irregular or painful periods, some fertility disorders, premenstrual difficulties, menopausal symptoms, labour pain, chronic pelvic pain syndrome, uterine fibroids, hot flushes in breast cancer, Oocyte retrieval pain relief, PCOS, postnatal depression

Pregnancy – morning sickness, breech baby, heartburn, elevated blood pressure, oedema, lower back pain, induction and preparation for labour

Men’s Health – some fertility disorders, prostatitis pain, erectile dysfunction

Neurological – headaches including migraine, temporomandibular pain, shingles, meniere’s disease, tinnitus, Bell’s palsy, acute post-stroke and stroke rehabilitation,  insomnia, excessive dreaming, alzheimers disease, ADHD, Autism spectrum disorder, cancer related; insomnia, neuropathy and psychological disorders, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, parkinson’s, vascular dementia or vascular cognitive impairment, sudden hearing loss

Metabolic disorders – chronic fatigue syndrome, adrenal insufficiency, hormonal irregularities, obesity

Urological disorders – urinary tract infections, nocturia, stress urinary incontinence, bladder pain, chronic kidney disease

Psychological disorders – post-traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, smoking, opiate addiction and detoxification

Skin disorders – acne, psoriasis, eczema, scarring, atopic dermatitis, chronic urticaria.
